WHAT ARE KRISTA'S CREDENTIALS?

I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. 

WHAT IS A REGISTERED DIETITIAN NUTRIONIST ?

A registered dietitian is a food and nutrition expert who has met the minimum academic and professional requirements:

-A bachelor's degree with course work approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).

-Complete an accredited supervised practice program (internship)

-Pass a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration

-Renewal every 5 years with 75 Continuing Education (CE) hours 

WHAT IS A CERTIFIED DIABETES CARE AND EDUCATION SPECIALIST?

A CDCES is an individual who has met the minimum academic and professional requirements:

-License, registration or certification in a specified discipline (ex: Registered Dietitian, Pharmacist, Physician, etc)

-A minimum of 2 years professional practice experience in that discipline AND a minimum of 1000 hours providing diabetes care and education (DCE)

-A minimum of 15 Continuing Education  (CE) hours applicable to diabetes prior to taking the exam

-Pass a national examination administered by the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education 

-Renewal every 5 years w/1000 practice hours AND 75 Continuing Education (CE) hours

WILL MY HEALTH INSURANCE COVER DIETITIAN SERVICES?

Krista Feagans Nutrition does not accept insurance, but you can request a superbill containing the codes you need to submit for reimbursement from your insurance. Insurance varies widely, so be sure to call for specifics regarding what your policy might cover. Reimbursement is not guaranteed, and is between you and your insurance company.
